The Cortical Foundation has been committed to restoring original Analog tapes to Digital since 1992.
We consider this an important task, since many of the tapes are fragile, deteriorating, and need to be restored for future reference.
Thus far, the conservation effort has initiated the restoration of recordings of Derek Bailey, Terry Riley, AMM,
La Monte Young, over 150 hours of LAFMS (Los Angeles Free Music Society) recordings, and others.
The conservation effort concerns itself with recordings of the 20th Century including American Pioneers,
Futurists, Concrete Poetry, Minimalism, Musique Concret, Free Improvisation, and experimental music in general.
In the near future, this section will offer additional documentation on the archives we're restoring as well as technical aspects of the restoration work in the
studios at the Cortical Foundation.
